Coaches,

5 Championship Defense Camp schools played last weekend for Section Championships and berths in Ca State Bowl Games.

Nevada Union, Marin Catholic, Modesto Christian, Placer, and Inderkum High Schools all played in section finals. All had attended The Championship Defense Camp. Marin Catholic won the NCS title with a stout 27-0 victory. Nev. Union won 20-2 behind their defense.

You are invited to bring your team, your program to The Championship Defense Camp this coming summer.

We are planning our camp for Watsonville HS and are actively looking for an additional camp site in the Central Coast Section, and So Cal areas.

Visit us on the web at www.WesternSportsCamps.com

Reserve a spot for your team in our camp today.

Sincerely,

Dave Humphers

Miners Continue Frosh Grid Dominance

If the performance this season by the Nevada Union High freshman football team is any indication, the future looks bright for NU football fortunes.

Thursday night at Hooper Stadium, the Miners completed the second consecutive 10-0 season by drubbing visiting Davis 42-6, for the Delta Valley League championship.

The Miners started strong in the game as NU took the opening kick-off and marched down the field in five plays with Tanner Vallejo scoring on a four yard run.

NU then upped the count to 12-0 with Hank Humphers plunging from two yards out to make the count, 12-0.

The Blue Devils then parlayed a long kick return into a touchdown drive and scored to cut NU's lead to 12-6. However, the visitors didn't get any closer when Ian Davis blocked the extra point.

The Miners then broke the game open by tallying three touchdowns in the second quarter to make the half time score 30-6 with Ian Davis returning an interception 70 yards for a TD, Vallejo running another six-pointer in from two yards out, and Jared Cook being on the receiving end of a 30-yard scoring pass from Kyle Cota. Vallejo's touchdown was set up by a nifty 56 yard interception return by Mike Buonarati.

In the second half, center Ian Butcher moved to fullback and scored a TD on a three yard run and Miguel Espinosa also scored the last of the seven touchdowns on a two yard run.

The leading tacklers were Davis with nine, Vallejo with seven, Espinosa and Dickinson with six apiece, Buonarati and Humphers with five each, and Austin Marks with four.

The Miners scored 410 points this season while giving up only 13 touchdowns to their opponents this season, and keep a 22 game winning streak alive. In the first decade of the 21st century the Nevada Union freshman football program has amassed 83 wins to 12 losses with one tie, that has resulted in seven league titles and four undefeated seasons.

I’m a Regional Scouting Associate, here in Maryland, for a company called C.H.A.M.P.S. Inc. based out of Atlanta, GA. C.H.A.M.P.S. stands for Collegebound High school Athletes Marketing & Placements Services.

As you are aware there are many of these companies in the market place these days but I found C.H.A.M.P.S. to be unique, honest, reliable and trustworthy.I become affiliated with C.H.A.M.P.S. and the Founder/CEO, Mark Gleason, through a networking site called Sports Marketing 2.0. Mark's story about how he got started in this business caught my attention because it all too often continues to repeat itself today; great athletes being overlooked and having to end their athletic careers prematurely, due to lack of exposure.

Mark and I hit it off and now we're looking to expand our area of operations and help as many aspiring high school athletes as we can. As you will read, from some of the parents testimonials, C.H.A.M.P.S. provides a unique service, in that, we work in a one on one capacity with the parents and the student athlete, are in constant contact, coaching, consulting, advising and assisting our clients throughout the entire recruiting process.

For many parents and athletes alike, this process is simply overwhelming. C.H.A.M.P.S. having gone through the process many times, helps make the process less complicated, by educating the parents and the student athlete on what to do, say and expect next; as I said before, we are there throughout the entire recruiting process.

Thanks, for your time and consideration. If we can be of service to you or anyone you know please contact me. I'd be glad to speak to parents, booster clubs, coaches, etc. about the NCAA Eligibility Center's Requirements, the Recruiting Process and C.H.A.M.P.S.

As a generality, you could run 2 deep, Man under, where both ends would cover the inside receiver to their side, your tackles would slide out to 4 tecniques over the OT's and your nose head up on the center. Mike LB would be responsible for QB. Underneath guys would run with motion. Everyone is covered, plus two deep safeties which also act as run support.
You would be susceptible to QB draw and scramble so you may want to play some games or stem the front so QB doesn't get a good read.
Your ends have help over the top and Safeties should read inside receiver for verticle route to help out DE's.

Yeah it did. But I need a defense that I can switch up with for balance. To stop the bunch and that reverse. Actually I had my end wide on the weakside. And the back cut it up inside of him.

Sounds like the D did it's job except for that one play John!

I am looking for a defense that can shut down an offense that runs a bunch with a empty backfield. I lost a game where I ran a 5-2 and shifted the LB's over to the bunch. But got caught with a reverse in the fourth and lost 6 - 0. We both were underfeated. I need some advise. Thank you!
