Kettlebells

Just wanted to add this group for those of us who train others using kettlebells, or questions about doing so. I've had a great deal of interest about them recently.

They are really good tools for MMA. Really anyone who needs explosiveness.

Hi Victor

I use the kbs extensively with a team of MMA athletes and we're seeing great results

Just added a quick 2 minute video to the video section here at CoachBook. I wanted to at least showcase the Rotational swings with a KB, because I feel they work quite a bit throughout the body for force absorption & transmission.

I have a DragonDoor... a couple of PowerMaxx bells(big bulky uncomfortable handles) and a few MuscleDriver bells.... the Dragondoor and the MDs are my favorites...

As an all-around coordination & power drill, I love the Figure 8 Swings. I like even adding a press on each side, once the KB is caught up in the palm of the other hand, causing you to balance it there as you press it. From chaos of the swing to the control needed for the pressing action, its a good drill to do for short amounts of time or reps.

Not only that but the appropriate tensing and irradiation techniques are very helpful with absorbing outside forces as well.

I think the single KB power lifts that I mentioned can teach the body how to handle outside forces upon it better. Being able to absorb the force of a 1-arm clean and then redirect it into the jerk motion, it teaches the body how to work with an offset unstable force placed upon it.

It makes a whole lotta sense! I agree that those lifts are much easier to teach with a KB than a barbell.
