Just read an AMAZING book written by Kyle Maynard. He's a congenital amputee, of all four limbs, who played football in middle school and wrestled in High School. It's VERY inspiring. The title is "No Excuses."

Hi Phil! I was just looking for whatever anyone wanted to discuss :-) You're story sounds very interesting from what you gave. What injuries have you overcome in your life? My parents didn't raise me to use my condition as a crutch. I'm very lucky…

Well at certain times in the past I always seemed to be in the position to be personally involved in work I enjoyed doing, like being roller rink manager, owner operator and involved in baseball in such a way that I could use my individual skills and team fundamental teaching abilities,i moved to Texas to do so but there is no way that I could resort to those sort of measures now, I retired from all of that and never figured that I would be interested in doing so again. Here in Springfield their main interest is just playing with little or no practice, I certainly am not interested in that sort of a non-learning environment, I am only interested in a baseball environment where I can teach and the players can learn to the best of their abilities, I am from the old school. If I had it to do all over again I would be involved in having ownership of a roller rink and having a baseball camp facility with an indoor space to do baseball indoors, sounds great doesn't? There in a closed Mickey Owen camp facility here but as they say take advantage of what you have when you have it, you may never get that opportunity again.
Again, nice talking to you.

Thanks Chelsi. I try to invite all the local Ohio and WV coaches as friends. I love kids and coaching. I certainly wouldn't hafve lasted this long if I didn't. My sister-in-law works with the paralized in the Cleveland area. What a tough but sometimes rewarding job! Good Luck, Tom

Hi Chelsi, welcome to CoachBook--thanks for signing up! I got your email--I live near Cambridge which is not a real hotbed for trainers =) I will do some checking since I have lots of contacts. A great site that you may want to check out - forums.jpfitness.com

I look forward to learning more about your training! If I can help you in any way here on the site, please let me know!
